Experience

Edward M. Cuddy III specializes in complex commercial litigations in the state and federal courts of New York. He has represented developers, not for profit, private and professional corporations, cooperatives, insurance companies and individuals in construction law disputes, contract actions, malpractice claims against architects and structural engineers, and casualty related property damage subrogation. Mr. Cuddy has extensive experience in drafting and negotiating architectural, construction and management contracts. He is a lecturer for Lorman Educational Services in this area of practice and the author of “Basic AIA Contracts – Dos and Don’ts of Negotiation.” He advises boards and managing agents concerning enforcement of lease and bylaw provisions and in resolving disputes with shareholders.

Mr. Cuddy received a B.S. degree from the State University of New York, Maritime College, Fort Schuyler (1975), was licensed as a Third Mate in the United States Merchant Marine, and received a J.D. degree from Fordham University Law School (1978). From 1979 to 1993, Mr. Cuddy practiced with Poles, Tublin, Patestides and Stratakis, a firm with offices in New York City and Piraeus, Greece where he specialized in the litigation of casualties and transportation claims, and the arbitration of contract disputes. From 1993 to 1997, Mr. Cuddy practiced with Kroll & Tract, where he specialized in insurance defense, as coverage counsel, and subrogation counsel on behalf of property insurers for casualty losses. From 1997 to 2011, he practiced with Snow Becker Krauss P.C., where he was a member of the litigation and real estate departments. He is a Proctor Member of the Maritime Law Association of the United States, was licensed as a Third Mate of the Merchant Marine and commissioned a Lieutenant Commander U.S.N.R. (Retired).
